Sometimes, the very road you’re traveling on is the cause of the accident. Think about the Cascade Road project, for example. The updated road’s lanes were narrowed to encourage safer driving. But they were so narrow that firetrucks wouldn’t fit, and the City had to redo them.

If you’re injured, we’d say yes: you need a motor vehicle accident attorney. You’re not legally required to hire one, but injured parties should seek legal counsel. Injuries complicate things, especially injuries that take a long time to heal or need a lot of specialized medical treatments. This is because Georgia law says accident victims who are no more than 49% at fault for that accident can seek compensation. They call this rule “modified comparative negligence.” However, your total compensation award will be reduced by your percentage of fault.
