As lawyers, we often find ourselves face-to-face with the most marginalized members of society. Our commitment to pursuing justice for all under the law extends beyond our duties in the courtroom to our actions to support equality and justice in our neighborhoods.
Wherever injustice occurs due to recklessness, maliciousness, or violence, we aim to restore autonomy to the individual or group who feels powerless in the face of it.
For these reasons, you’ll find our attorneys and staff members offering their personal time to help support our communities and neighbors. You can find us helping a Little League team or sponsoring a food kitchen. Ultimately, our goal is to help our neighbors however we can.
The Dixon Firm Appreciates Atlanta’s Rich History
As true Atlantans, we appreciate our city’s rich culture and history. In the 1950s and 1960s, Atlanta served as the hub for the Civil Rights Movement. From sit-ins to voter registration drives, Atlanta is the birthplace of the nonviolent civil disobedience that helped shape the freedoms enjoyed by Georgians today. As citizens of the hometown of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we understand our duty to uphold his dream of equality for all citizens through our continued fight for justice.
Unfortunately, many of the freedoms Dr. King fought for are not always protected. As our founder, S.K. Rod Dixon, states, “The law can be corrupted if it’s handled by corrupt people with corrupt intent. Where the law is handled by folks who have the right intent, it is the pathway to justice.” We have seen time and again how justice is recovered when the law is interpreted honestly by compassionate people.
It is The Dixon Firm’s mission to demand protection, justice, and equality for all. As such, our firm is actively engaged in numerous programs to support historically oppressed groups, as well as to give back to a community of our peers. Here are some of the ways we immerse ourselves in our local neighborhoods and venues.
Scholarship Uplifting the Black Community
We awarded a monetary scholarship to an African-American student deserving of additional financial support and recognition. To be considered for the scholarship, candidates had to explain how their work would one day support and uplift the African-American community both in their hometown and abroad.
Our founding partner is passionate about encouraging leadership and ingenuity in the African-American community and supporting future leaders along the way.
Feeding the Community
Over 47 million Americans face hunger every day. Our firm is committed to helping restore access to food to people in need in our communities.
The Dixon Firm donated 250 meals from Sandtown Pub on Wheels during the City of South Fulton’s Trunk-or-Treat event. (We also sweetened the pot by giving away a Nintendo Switch and MomoCon Winterfest passes via a same-day raffle.)
Additionally, our firm partners with the Atlanta Community Food Bank to provide meals to those in need. Food insecurity can happen to anyone, especially in the face of an accident that leaves you with unexpected medical bills and injuries that make it impossible for you to shop for groceries. Through the food bank, we’ve helped put food on shelves, thereby providing hunger relief.
Contacting the food bank gives you access to meals you need when you need them. By simply donating money and time, you can put a meal on the table of a neighbor and ensure they do not have to worry where their next meal, or their children’s next meals, will come from.
Renting an Auditorium for the Community
We are stronger together, and The Dixon Firm is committed to bringing the community together to celebrate our history and learn more from each other. For example, we rented a theater on Camp Creek Parkway and invited 297 of our neighbors to enjoy a free screening of the movie Marshall, which tells the story of America’s first black Supreme Court Justice. The theater was packed, and attendees enjoyed real discussions about racial equality and progress throughout American history.
We look forward to future events that call the community together to discuss how we can support and encourage one another and spark progress.
Offering Free Haircuts to the Community
We were proud to host a barbershop event at Xclusive Barbershop in Powder Springs, GA, where we sponsored free haircuts in our ongoing efforts to give back to the community. Check out a video of the event on our Instagram channel.
The Dixon Firm Doesn’t Just Talk the Talk – We Walk the Walk
Some firms advertise that they “fight for your rights,” while taking advantage of their clients through deceptive practices. At The Dixon Firm, we are fully committed to justice for all through transparency, diligent work, and service to our community. These pillars help shape not only how we practice law but how we encounter our world and make good on our promise to do our utmost to preserve justice for those who have been wronged.
We understand that when the law is corrupted, people lose their confidence and their voice. We have a responsibility not just to those who come to us for legal support, but to our community as well – we live, work, and serve here. For instance, you will regularly find our attorneys speaking to youth in the public school system and sponsoring baseball and softball teams in our efforts to help the great city of Atlanta reach its full potential.
Additionally, The Dixon Firm speaks to national issues of discrimination and injustice. We don’t back down from the hard conversations, nor do we turn a blind eye to inequality. It is our duty and a privilege to fight for those who can’t fight for themselves, and we take that responsibility very seriously.
Our Social Presence
In today’s atmosphere, a firm with no social media presence can scarcely call itself a member of the community at large. That’s why our team members are continually educating themselves on new platforms and staying current on social trends.
For instance, our TikTok profile has over 100,000 views. We frequently post content to both TikTok and YouTube that we hope our followers find useful concerning our cases, verdicts, and frequently asked questions. Our social media presence is a good way to get to know and connect with us on a more personal level.
Our Future: It’s Up to Us
At The Dixon Firm, we believe that our community is only as strong as our weakest members. We strive to seek out our neighbors-in-need and fight to restore their voices, but we can’t do it alone. Together is the best way to move forward.
We are always looking for opportunities to give back to our community and be even more involved than we already are. If you have an opportunity you’d like us to consider, please contact us. We look forward to the chance to work with you in support of our common goals.
